In autumn or winter, certain difficulties may arise with Zamioculcas. Brown spots can be seen on its leaves. They look like burns. The plant may also begin to lose yellow leaves. Dark and brown spots on the leaves of Zamioculcas or Dollar tree indicate that the plant is suffering and does not tolerate the cold season well.

Diagnosis
If the leaves of a young plant droop and brown spots and spots appear on it, and Zamioculcas was watered and sprayed, but its condition worsens every day, most likely the plant was frostbitten. This happens especially often if it was standing under an open window and the cold air scorched the leaves, and then these burns turned into spots. Affected leaves, on which rot spread throughout the petiole, cannot be saved. They will have to be removed.

If the tuber has also been exposed to hypothermia, this can lead to the death of the plant, so you should immediately remove the Zamioculcas from the pot and inspect its underground part.

Zamioculcas treatment
Stem and buds

Stems that do not have a single healthy leaf will have to be cut off. Having removed the scale from the basal area, inspect the plant for the presence of a healthy bud. Leave it, cutting the stem to healthy tissue, and the bud will give rise to new growth.

To prevent any remnants of rot from spreading to healthy tissue, you need to treat the Zamioculcas cut with a fungicide, for example, moistening a cotton swab with a solution of the drug “Maxim”. You can sprinkle the cut with “Fundazol” or wood ash.

After sprinkling the powder on the cut, rub it into the fabric, simultaneously treating the area around the bud. Now neither fungi nor bacteria will be able to develop in this place, because the ash is not edible for them.

Tuber

If there are a lot of softened roots and the tuber is affected by rot, you will have to remove all the roots and treat the tuber with wood ash.

After sprinkling the tuber and healthy roots generously with ash, shake off its excess from the root system. Now you can plant the plant in fresh soil.

The soil in which Zamioculcas grew can be mixed with ash and improving preparations, and then used to grow some unpretentious plants.
